Mountain Scholar Content Freeze

January 12, 2021

UW Libraries is pleased to announce that we are currently in the process of upgrading our current institutional repository, Mountain Scholar, to a new system, WyoScholar.

WyoScholar is a robust, powerful system that will offer an improved user experience.

All current content will be migrated to the new system and collections will stay the same. For example, if you have a paper currently published under UW Colleges and Schools > College of Arts and Sciences > Physics and Astronomy, the path to that collection should look the same. If you have datasets in the UW Research Data collection, those sets will be migrated to the UW Research Data collection in Figshare.

In order to migrate our content smoothly, we will be initiating a content freeze immediately. No new content will be published to the Mountain Scholar repository after this time. We anticipate that this freeze will last no longer than a month.

We ask that anyone wishing to submit new content who will still be affiliated with the university this Spring wait until after the freeze ends. Students who graduated in December and wish to submit content to the repository may continue to use the existing submission instructions for Mountain Scholar. Any materials submitted to Mountain Scholar during the freeze will be published in WyoScholar once the migration is complete.

Reminder to faculty: The institutional repository cannot be used to fulfill any graduation requirements and students cannot be required to submit their work to this repository. All students submitting their work to the repository should do so voluntarily. UW Libraries does not offer any sort of degree-requirement-tracking as part of the repository. Students who are expected to submit work to ProQuest as per the requirements of their degree must do so through the Registrar’s Office.

We will communicate with the UW Community as soon as the freeze ends, along with updated instructions on how to submit content to our new repository. If you have any questions, please contact us at Digital Collections.
