Student Move-In Day Details

Saddle Up Move-In Day
August 21, 2026
Are you a first-time student this fall? You will participate in Saddle Up! This new and exciting program is coming to UW this fall. Saddle Up is a required student introductory course that will take place on the UW Campus from August 24-28, 2026. Saddle Up participants will move into the residence halls on Friday, August 21, beginning at 8:00 a.m. As this is before the fall housing and dining contract start date of August 29, an additional charge of $400.00 will apply for Saddle Up students. This covers room and all meals during Saddle Up for dates before the fall contract start date and will be billed to the student account.

Returning / Transfer Student Move-in Day
August 29, 2026
If you are a returning student or transferring in to UW, your move-in date is Saturday, August 29. You can check in at your hall's front desk between 8:00 a.m. and midnight beginning August 29th! Remember, the first day of classes is Monday, August 31st, so make sure you are moved in and settled by then!
Step-By-Step Instructions for Students on MOve-In Day
Be sure to carefully follow these steps for a smooth and successful move-in day!

You must frequently check your University of Wyoming email address (uwyo.edu) before Move-In Day. Keep an eye out for information regarding your room assignment, roommate information, move-in, and general housing and dining information on July 24th. If you do not receive one by the end of the day, please contact us at living@uwyo.edu.
Traveling a long distance? Ordering new items for your room? Drop ship items to your UW address!
Packages can be shipped to your UW address (as shown on your July 24 placement email) for delivery on or after August 10.
Once you have checked in to your room and unloaded any items you bring on move-in day, you can retrieve shipped parcels from the mailroom in North Hall.
- Pack all belongings in plastic totes, suitcases, or large storage bags.
- Label all items with your name, building, and room number.
- When you arrive at your unloading zone, only the student will exit the vehicle. Bring
your UW ID!
- Once unloading is complete, the vehicle must immediately move to a parking zone. Parents & family members are welcome to return to the hall and help their student unpack at this time.

Staggered Move-In Schedule
Example of the 2025 Schedule:
Staggered move-in times will be implemented this year to streamline the move-in process, ensuring it is safe, organized, and efficient for everyone. By scheduling specific times for different groups to move in, we can reduce congestion, manage traffic, and ensure elevator availability. This approach also allows for better resource allocation and more personalized assistance, resulting in a smoother, less stressful experience for all residents. We are excited to welcome our students and look forward to making their move-in experience as pleasant and efficient as possible.
