Band Day
Band Day for the 2026 Season will take place September 12, 2026.

Dear Band Students and Directors:
We are excited to host Band Day once again this fall! The football schedule created
a few challenges this year, but we are happy to have found a way to continue offering
this experience for your students.
Our original Band Day game was moved to a Friday night, and for the first time in
my eight years as director, we have more late-season home games than early-season
home games. Rather than moving Band Day to November, we partnered with the UW Athletic
Department to hold the event during an earlier game. Because of the popularity of
the home opener, this year's event will require a game ticket.
The game is expected to sell out, so every participating student and staff member
will need to purchase a discounted $15 ticket. I know this is a change from previous
years when Band Day was free, and I wanted to share a few details as you begin making
plans.
Ticketing: All ticket purchases and payment will be handled through the UW Ticket Office. Colin
Snyder will coordinate the ticket process after you or your students have registered.
Who can attend: Band Day can be a full-band experience or an individual opportunity. I always enjoy
seeing entire bands represent their schools in uniform, but students are also welcome
to participate individually. It doesn't have to be an all-or-nothing decision.
Payment options: How you handle payment is completely up to you. If your program is
covering the cost for students from your vast band budget reserves :-), you can register
and pay as a group. If students are paying individually, we can facilitate that through
the Ticket Office, or you can collect payments yourself and submit one group payment.
If students are attending independently, they can simply register through the form,
and we will contact them with the next steps.
Instrumentation: To help finalize the halftime show and design the WYO, I'll need your updated instrumentation
and participation numbers by September 5.
Music: The music has already been selected. I can send it to you upon request or after
you register.
I hope you'll join us and help fill the field at War Memorial Stadium for another
great Band Day. It is always one of my favorite events of the season because it’s
such an impressive showing for music education in our state and region. I look forward
to seeing your students perform alongside the Western Thunder Marching Band.
