Top University of Wyoming students have been designated as candidates for UW Gold
distinction, which replaces traditional Homecoming royalty. Unlike previous years,
instead of six finalists there will be two winners and four runners-up.
The 11 UW Gold semifinalists will be presented and the winners will be announced at
the Iron Skull Homecoming Sing, Thursday, Oct. 8, at 6 p.m. in the College of Arts
and Sciences auditorium. The winners will ride in the Homecoming parade and be introduced
at halftime during the UW-New Mexico football game Saturday, Oct. 10.
Students are nominated on the basis of continued success in academic studies, community
service and leadership. The tradition is a way for leading students to be recognized
by their peers, the university and the state. UW Gold is sponsored by Cardinal Key,
the junior class honor society.

geography.
Fort Collins, Colo. -- Kelsey Kurtz, senior in political science; Trista Vos, senior
in athletic training and women's studies.

Thermopolis -- Benjamin McKay, senior in economics and finance.
