Biography
Alison Mercier is an assistant professor of elementary science education who teaches
education courses in the School of Teacher Education at the University of Wyoming.
Prior to her work at the University of Wyoming, she completed her doctoral research
and graduate work at the University of North Carolina Greensboro (UNCG) where she
co-led the UNCG STEM Teacher Leader Collaborative and worked as a research associate
on Dr. Heidi Carlone’s NSF-funded BRIDGES project focusing on middle-school youth’s
identity development and socioenvironmental problem solving. Alison worked as an elementary
school and middle school teacher in urban, high-needs schools for 16 years prior to
completing her PhD.
