Allen Trent is a Professor in the UW School of Teacher Education. Trent previously served as the College of Education Associate Dean for Undergraduate Programs and Chair of the Department of Educational Studies. He teaches courses in literacy education, action and qualitative research, and art education. He conducts research related to arts integration in elementary curricula, reading and writing teaching in elementary schools, multicultural education, democracy, and teacher education.

Prior to joining the University of Wyoming faculty, Trent taught first, fourth, and sixth grades in Ohio public arts magnet schools. During this time, he conducted collaborative action research projects about arts integrated curricula, community in schools, and decentering teachers in classrooms. He completed a Ph.D. program in Curriculum, Instruction, and Professional Development at The Ohio State University in 2000. Additionally, Trent is a practicing visual artist creating collaborative installations with public school students and shows his own sculpture in the Rocky Mountain region.

Trent's research interest include teacher education, multicultural education, arts-integrated curriculum and instruction and qualitative and action research.
