Adaptive Physical Education

All UW students are required to complete a university-wide program in general education, known as the University Studies program. One of the University Studies requirements is Physical Activity and Health. To meet that requirement, students enroll in PEAC 1001, a one-credit course, which includes a lecture section and an activity section. Students who need an activity adapted to their physical needs may register for the Adapted Physical Activity section.

Activities in this section are individually designed to meet each student's needs.

In the past, students have incorporated physical therapy programs into the course. Other students have developed skills involving individually-tailored weight training, swimming, and other sports activities.

For more information on this course, contact the Division of Kinesiology and Health at 307-766-5449.
