Rod Thompson has been the University of Wyoming’s Technical Education professor since the summer of 2003. He has encouraged his students to be actively involved in organizations and as a result has had national officers in Technology Engineering Educators Association (TEECA) as well as national winners in the association’s competitions around the country. Rod has been TEECA national advisor as well as a member of the board of directors for International Technology Engineering Educators Association (ITEEA). Rod was awarded the Distinguished Technology Engineering Educators (DTE) by ITEEA in 2014. The UW Technical Teacher Education program was recognized as WACTE’s Innovative Program of the year in 2012. Rod’s spare time is spent outdoors hiking, fishing, hunting and camping with his family and creating all sorts of adventures.
The University of Wyoming has earned its Research Level 1 (R1) status from the Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education, placing Wyoming's only four-year university with the top research universities in the United States.
