Mark. E. Miller grew up on his family’s ranch started by his great-grandfather in 1873. He attended the University of Wyoming between 1970-1974 when he earned his B.A. in Anthropology. He continued at UW between 1974-1976 before receiving his M.A. in Anthropology. Miller’s PhD degree in Anthropology was awarded in 1979 from the University of Colorado in Boulder. Mark periodically taught through UW’s School of Extended studies before he was hired as Wyoming State Archaeologist in 1984 upon the resignation of Dr. George C. Frison. Miller held that position for 30 years, conducting research and teaching a course on Public Archaeology, before retiring in 2014. He remains active with the department as an Adjunct Professor, conducting much of his current research using the numerous resources available on campus.
