My research interests lie within physical education pedagogy and the promotion of lifelong physical activity in schools. I have established a unique line of inquiry that investigates the individual dispositions of physical education teachers and related socializing agents that impact their adoption of teaching practices consistent with promoting student physical literacy. My current research is focused on utilizing knowledge of dispositions toward change to develop customized professional development that meets individual teacher needs. Ultimately this work will inform the administration of the Centers for Disease Control’s recommended comprehensive school physical activity programming (CSPAP) model which is contingent upon physical educators assuming new roles as both teachers of physical literacy, and leaders of school-wide physical activity.
