Joel Shura

Joel Shura (he/him) is a working director and theatre performance generalist professor. He is the recipient of four KCACTF Region 7 Faculty Meritorious Awards in Directing for his directing work. Selected directing credits include MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET at Fort Peck Summer Theatre, SOMETHING ROTTEN at Minot Summer Theatre, ESCAPE TO MARGARITAVILLE and THE FULL MONTY at Bigfork Summer Theatre, as well as productions such as PETER AND THE STARCATCHER, BRIGHT STAR, METAMORPHOSES, and LEGALLY BLONDE at various higher educational institutions.  

Joel teaches courses in directing, improvisation, theatrical mask and clown, acting, theatre history, script analysis, and dramatic literature. He received his BA in Drama from UC Irvine in 2010 (Zot Zot!) and his MFA in Theatre Directing from the University of Montana in 2018 (Go Grizz!).
