UW Student Organization Hosts Semana Primavera

Two final events are scheduled Friday and Saturday for "Semana Primavera" (spring week) at the University of Wyoming.

The UW student organization MEChA (Movimiento Estudiantil Chicanos de Atzlan) de UW sponsors the events. MEChA is celebrating its 25th anniversary as a student organization on campus.

The annual Chicana/Latino graduation celebration is at 5:30 p.m. Friday, April 24, at the Laramie railroad depot.

A free public fiesta "Comida y Cultura" (food and culture) is Saturday from 1-5 p.m. in the Wyoming Union ballroom. Among activities planned are children's games, a cake walk, pinatas and performances by a mariachi group and dancers. A free taco bar also will be provided and catered by The Library.

Semana Primavera sponsors are MEChA; Associated Students of UW; Multicultural Affairs; President's Office; Vice President for Student Affairs; colleges of Business, Agriculture, and Arts and Sciences; Student Financial Aid; Campus Activities Center; Student Educational Opportunity; and private donors.
