Donald Shaw, the Kenan Professor in the School of Journalism at the University of North Carolina, will be the keynote speaker at the 2009 Rocky Mountain Communication Association Conference (RMCAC) April 18, at the University of Wyoming.
Shaw's presentation will be from 11:30 a.m.-12:15 p.m. in Room 129 of the Classroom Building. The event is free and open to the public.
A communication historian and theorist, Shaw is best known for his instrumental role in developing the agenda-setting theory, which explains the role and influence of the mass-news media. He has taught at North Carolina since 1966.
The RMCAC, sponsored by the UW Department of Communication and Journalism, is expected to attract about 120 academic professionals from the Rocky Mountain region to the UW campus.
