The University of Wyoming debate team won the regional championship for the 2008-2009 season and finished in the top 20 among 120 teams nationally.
UW debaters outranked teams from prominent debate schools including Trinity University, Dartmouth, Concordia, Vanderbilt, Georgetown, Cornell University and the U.S. Military Academy to finish in the top 20.
UW was the top regional team in the National Debate Tournament rankings, finishing ahead of teams including Idaho State, Nevada Las Vegas, Weber State, Arizona State, Denver and Eastern New Mexico.
