The Prospector service is not available to off-campus patrons.
Library privileges are extended to members of the University of Wyoming Alumni Association with the in-person presentation of an Alumni Association card and a state or government issued photo ID at any University Libraries Help Desk.
Through the association, alumni are granted access to all University Libraries materials within the libraries and have borrowing privileges of all circulating items. The Libraries participate in reciprocal borrowing programs with a number of institutions. Agreements and policies vary with each program. This does not include access to databases and other online materials, Prospector, and Interlibrary Loan.
Wyoming community college libraries, the University of Wyoming Libraries, and George W. Hopper Law Library are partners in providing resources to the higher education community in Wyoming. Current students, faculty, and staff at these institutions may obtain a reciprocal library card to borrow library print materials. To obtain a reciprocal library card, visit the library in person and present a valid ID from your college or university along with a government-issued ID. Borrowed items must be returned in person or by mail to the owning library. Loan periods and other policies may be different from your home library, and you are responsible for any fees for late, lost, or damaged items.
Faculty from participating institutions affiliated with the OCLC Reciprocal Faculty Borrowing Program(ORFBP) may obtain a library card by presenting a valid campus ID card and a photo ID in person at the Coe Library Help Desk.
Reciprocal borrower cards must be renewed annually in person.
Library borrowers may authorize a representative to perform library transactions on their behalf by submitting a Proxy Authorization Form (PDF). Proxy relationships may be singular or reciprocal and must be updated annually. Account owners assume responsibility for all library transactions made by their proxy, including payment of related fees.
- The proxy will be linked to your account (or to each other if the reciprocal relationship is selected). A proxy can check out, renew, and place requests on your behalf.
- The account owner and proxy account must both be in good standing to perform transactions.
- Information regarding your account will remain confidential and not shared with your proxy.
- Account owners may designate more than one proxy.
All library materials may be borrowed except current journals, newspapers, reference, and microforms. These items are library use only.
Materials in the Emmett Chisum Special Collections, the Rocky Mountain Herbarium collection, and the Jackson Research Center must be used at those facilities.
