Bio
Reshmi Singh's research is focused on patient engagement, health literacy, and patient-centered research to improve patient medication experiences and health outcomes. She is affiliated with the Wyoming Institute of Disabilities (WIND) and is a member of the WIND ESRN (Equality State Research Network) involved in improving patient and family engagement and hence of life of persons with disabilities.
Dr Singh's expertise, experience, and training are in Qualitative Research and Engaged Scholarship.
Overall, access and disparities by virtue of rural location are issues that affect patient ‘care-seeking’, outcomes and communities at large. Dr. Singh has previously applied qualitative methods to understand how patients (college students; long-term users) using antidepressant therapies make decisions about their medications and health. Her research agenda is to further ways and means to examine role of community engagement to improve patients’ access to healthcare. This is especially important in a rural state like Wyoming.
Dr. Singh teaches Freshman Seminar, all 4 years of the PharmD curriculum (courses include Research Methods, Ethics) as well as biomedical graduate students' Research Ethics.
Dr. Singh has been previously awarded the College Interprofessional Education Award. She is also the 2019-2020 Learning Actively Mentoring Program fellow and was selected for the LAMP Educator Learning Community in Spring 2020.
Teaching Summary
Dr Reshmi Singh's teaching encompasses teaching across the PharmD Curriculum including Academic and Research rotations, in addition to Ethics and Research Methods courses. She has also created and taught the First Year Seminar Course on Mental Health for nearly a decade and been involved in Education Abroad courses. Dr Singh's teaching philosophy is Student Centered, with Active Learning focus to provide a great environment for student engagement.
Research Synopsis
Dr. Reshmi Singh’s research focuses on health equity, rural health and education disparities,
and patient engagement through community-engaged and qualitative scholarship. She
investigates barriers in mental health treatment, vaccine hesitancy, Parkinson’s disease
care, health literacy, and chronic disease management, emphasizing the role of pharmacists
and interprofessional teams. Dr Singh's work includes engaging with statewide community
colleges and leading Educator Learning Communities to further understand and address
education in a rural state.
She has served as PI or Co-I on more than a dozen funded projects, including studies supported by PCORI, HRSA, HHMI, and the Wyoming Center on Aging. Her publications address topics such as rural-serving community colleges, disability-inclusive pedagogy, nutrition and medication choices, and pharmacist roles in counseling.
Dr. Singh disseminates her work widely, presenting nationally and internationally at ISPW, APhA, AACP, ASHA, and TQR. Dr Singh servies on editorial boards nad takes leadership roles in professional pharmacy organizations. She is also deeply committed to student mentorship ( for Pharmacy and Health Sciences, and across the campus in Education, Psychology and Communication and Journalism), with numerous trainees serving as first authors on publications and conference presentations.
Short Summary
Dr. Reshmi Singh’s research addresses rural health disparities, along with community,
statewide, and global engagement. She has led grants on vaccine hesitancy, telehealth
for Parkinson’s disease, and community health interventions, publishing widely and
mentoring students in applied research.
