Bio
Dr. Sree Nair received his bachelors in pharmacy, masters in pharmacy, and Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences from College of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Manipal, Mangalore University, India. He then completed post-doctoral trainings form the Department of Medicine II, Klinikum Grosshadern, Ludwig Maximillian University of Munich, Germany, and the Department of Physiology, University of Tennessee Health Sciences Center, Memphis, TN. His research focuses on the molecular mechanisms of cardiovascular disease and diabetes. He has received funding from the NIH, the American Diabetes Association, and the American Heart Association. He has published over 80 original research papers and has edited 4 books. He is a fellow of the American Heart Association (FAHA), American College of Nutrition (FACN) and is an AACP Academic Research Fellow.
Teaching Synopsis
Dr. Nair teaches Pharmacology to both Pharmacy and WWAMI Medical Students, integrating clinical applications and fundamental pharmacological principles into the curriculum.
Research Synopsis
Dr. Sree Nair’s research integrates molecular pharmacology, metabolism, and translational
therapeutics to prevent and treat diabetes, cardiovascular disease, neurodegeneration,
and chronic illness. His work spans basic mechanisms of protease signaling, mitochondrial
function, and autophagy, to the development of novel drugs, nutraceuticals, and stem-cell
based therapeutic models.
He has served as PI on over 40 funded projects from NIH, NASA, ADA, AHA, and industry, totaling several million dollars. He has authored 100+ peer-reviewed publications and book chapters in Scientific Reports, Diabetes, Obesity, Hypertension, Neuropsychopharmacology, and others, and edited foundational texts in nutrition and pharmacology, including Nutrition and Enhanced Sports Performance and Developing New Functional Food and Nutraceutical Products.
Dr. Nair is an invited speaker at ADA, AHA, APS, and international nutraceutical and pharmacology conferences. His career reflects a sustained commitment to translational science, bridging basic mechanisms with functional foods, novel pharmacotherapies, and global collaborations.
Short Summary
Dr. Sree Nair’s research focuses on diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and translational
therapeutics. With more than 40 funded projects and 100+ publications, he advances
novel drugs, nutraceuticals, and precision medicine for chronic disease.
