BIO

Elliott M. Sogol, PhD, RPh, FAPhA is the Director of Postgraduate Education for the School of Pharmacy at the University of Wyoming. He also oversees the continuing education group that provides accredited pharmacy and nursing CE.  His previous roles include serving as the SVP of Strategy for Pharmacy Quality Solutions, Group Manager in the Healthcare Professional Service group for Target Corporation, as well as, serving as a pharmacy manager at a Target Pharmacy. He has also held positions in academia at Campbell University School of Pharmacy and the University of Illinois-Chicago. In addition, he held leadership positions in corporate and R&D divisions within Glaxo Smith Kline. He received professional and graduate degrees from the University of Wisconsin – School of Pharmacy.   

 

Dr. Sogol holds adjunct faculty appointments at Campbell University, the University of Minnesota, and the University of North Carolina. Sogol served as the Science Officer for the American Pharmacists Association from 2003-2010 and has held other leadership roles in local, state, and national professional associations. Mr. Sogol co-authored the books, “The Good Pharmacist; Characteristics, Virtues and Habits” and “The Good Pharmacist, Book II, Enhancing Pharmacy as a True, Clinical and Paid Profession.”

 

Dr Sogol and his wife Lori live in North Carolina with their dog Poppy and horse Ranger.  They have two daughters Whitney (Brooklyn) and Sydney (Durham). 

 

Research Synopsis
Dr. Elliott Sogol’s scholarship and professional leadership focus on advancing pharmacy practice, career development, and quality-based healthcare. He is recognized nationally for shaping workforce development and professional identity while integrating pharmacists into value-based care models.

He developed the APhA Career Pathway Evaluation Program (Formerly the Glaxo Career Pathwy Evaluation Program), which has guided thousands of pharmacists and student pharmacists in career planning, and co-authored The Good Pharmacist volumes articulating pharmacy’s patient-centered role. His scholarship also includes research and invited presentations on medication access, public health, and quality performance systems such as CMS Star Ratings and EQuIPP.

Through publications, books, and leadership roles, Dr. Sogol continues to influence professional development, pharmacy practice transformation, and the integration of pharmacists into quality-based healthcare delivery.
