Bio

Dr. Tracy D. Mahvan, RPh, MBA, Pharm.D., BCGP Joined University of Wyoming in 2000. She is an Associate Professor of Pharmacy Practice with 20 years of academic teaching and research experience.  She received her bachelors and doctor of pharmacy degree from the University of Colorado Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences. She completed a post-doctoral residency in Primary Care at St. Louis College of Pharmacy, St. Louis, Missouri in 1999. She is Board Certified in Geriatric Pharmacy.  In 2020, she received her MBA from the University of Wyoming, School of Business.

Dr Mahvan’s practice site is at Salud Family Medicine Center in Longmont, Colorado. The focus of her teaching is Ambulatory Care topics and Skill based OSCE driven courses in clinical rotations and Didactic teaching. Academic interests include Family practice, Geriatrics, Inter professional medical education, Health Care Disparities, Entrepreneurship and quality of life. 

 

Research Synopsis
Dr. Tracy Mahvan’s research spans geriatric care, interprofessional education, global pharmacy, and safe medication use. Her funded projects include examining pharmacy practice across U.S./U.K. settings, Pharmacy practices in South Africa, and simulation-based clinical decision-making.

She has authored peer-reviewed work in J Fam Pract, Consultant Pharmacist, Ann Pharmacother, AJHP, and Pharmacy Times, covering topics such as peptic ulcer disease, toxicology (psilocybin, kratom), pediatric COVID-19, opioid prescribing, cholesterol management, and marijuana in the elderly. She also collaborates with students on case reports and clinical reviews.

Her scholarship is presented internationally at FIP, Monash University, and European forums, as well as nationally at AACP, ACCP, ASHP, and ASA. Her work advances geriatric care, curricular innovation, and international pharmacy education.
