Bio
Dr. Hornecker received her Bachelor's degree from Texas Tech University and her Doctor
of Pharmacy degree from the University of Wyoming. She then completed a pharmacy practice
residency at the Community Health Center of Central Wyoming. Her practice site is
the University of Wyoming Family Medicine Residency Program in Casper, Wyoming, where
her practice and research interests include anticoagulation, diabetes, pain management,
substance use disorders, team-based care, underserved populations, and patient education.
Her academic interests include personal and professional development, layered learning,
and resiliency. Dr. Hornecker currently coordinates Therapeutics IV, and teaches throughout
the pharmacy curriculum in the Therapeutics series, Clinical Pharmacokinetics, and
Physical Assessment. Her current rotation offerings include ambulatory care I and
II.
Research Synopsis
Dr. Jaime Hornecker’s research integrates ambulatory care pharmacy, rural health,
and interprofessional collaboration to improve outcomes in chronic disease, infectious
diseases, and primary care. She has served as PI and Co-I on federally and state-funded
projects, including type 2 diabetes prevention programs in federally qualified health
centers and CMS-funded evaluations of pharmacist contributions to remote patient care
teams.
Her publications span survivorship care in rural cancer patients (Journal of Rural Health), primary care adaptations to COVID-19 (Journal of Primary Care & Community Health), hepatitis C screening inequities, and numerous clinical reviews in American Family Physician, FP Essentials, and US Pharmacist. She has also contributed to leading pharmacotherapy textbooks and case-based study guides.
Dr. Hornecker has presented at ASHP, AACP, and other national venues, with projects on HIV PrEP, naloxone initiatives, immunization practices, and DEIA in pharmacy. Her scholarship reflects innovation in ambulatory care, emphasizing pharmacist integration into team-based care and strategies that improve rural and underserved health outcomes.
