Protect Your Laptop

Many of the security tools for laptops and home computers are the same as those recommend for UW office computers. However, there are some special tools for connecting to administrative systems or office desktops from home or on the road.

• Remote Access to UW Software with VPN
  Securely connecting to UW computer resources from off campus. Virtual Private Network (VPN) connections offer a greater level of security and are required for remote access to some UW network resources.

• How To Install and Run Windows Automatic Updates
  It is highly recommended to automate your updates so that the software does it for you.

• Microsoft Office and other Microsoft product updates
  If you use Microsoft Office on a personal computer, it needs to be kept up to date. Plug up any security holes by running Microsoft's online update.

• General Information About UW's Wireless Networks

• Connect to the UW Wireless Network via UWyo or UWresnet
