Requesting Items & Materials

Hold for Me requests may be placed on any item except for reserves and library use only items. Available items will be pulled by library staff and placed on the holdshelf at the library of your choice. Items that are checked out will be held for you upon their return. You will be notified when any Hold for Me requested items are ready to pick up. Items will be held for 7 days. To place a Hold for Me request:

  • Visit any Libraries Help Desk
  • Locate an item in the Library Catalog and click on the Hold for Me button
  • You will be prompted to log in to your library account to complete your request

University students, faculty, and staff may also request the item through Prospector or Interlibrary Loan.

Users not affiliated with the university may request items from their local public library's interlibrary loan service.

Prospector is a service that allows University students, faculty, and staff to request books, media, journals/articles, and other items from over 40 libraries in Colorado. Available requests are processed and shipped to the Libraries within 3-7 business days.

To use Prospector:

  • You must have an active University of Wyoming Libraries account
  • You must have a WyoWeb username and password or a W number

Loan periods and renewals vary by item type:

  • 3-week loans can be renewed for one additional 3 week period
  • 1-week loans cannot be renewed

University students, faculty, and staff can request books, journal volumes, journal articles, and other materials, whether available in the University of Wyoming Libraries, the University of Wyoming Law Library, online, or in other libraries. Items from campus collections are delivered within 2 business days; items from other libraries may take 2 weeks.

To use Interlibrary Loan:

  • You must have an active University of Wyoming Libraries account
  • You must set up an Interlibrary Loan Account using your WyoWeb username and password
  • You must select a preferred pickup location for the delivery of materials

Loan periods and renewals for Interlibrary Loan items are determined by the lending library.

Patrons with disabilities or injuries may visit or call any of the Libraries Help Desks to request retrieval of titles for pickup at any campus library. Items will be held up to 7 days for borrower pickup. Please contact:

University students, faculty, and staff may request retrieval of materials and arrange for pickup at any library location using the Hold for Me service.
