Dr. Lavinia Salama, PharmD, BCACP, BCGP, BC-ADM, CDCES, earned her Doctor of Pharmacy
degree magna cum laude with a concentration in nephrology from Albany College of Pharmacy
and Health Sciences. She completed a PGY-1 pharmacy practice residency at Mercy Hospital
Southeast in Missouri, followed by a PGY-2 ambulatory care residency at Albany College
of Pharmacy and Health Sciences. Before joining Long Island University in the summer
of 2025, Dr. Salama served as a clinical pharmacist and faculty member at the University
of Wyoming, where she practiced at the Cheyenne Family Medicine Residency Clinic and
taught both pharmacy and medical residents.
Dr. Salama is board certified in ambulatory care, geriatrics, and advanced diabetes
management, and her clinical interests include cardiovascular-kidney-metabolic conditions,
nephrology, diabetes (including advanced insulin technologies), obesity, and weight
management. She is especially passionate about reducing health disparities in underserved
communities and is dedicated to empowering patients and learners with the knowledge
and tools for growth and self-care.
