John Wesley Hoyt

John Wesley Hoyt (1887-1890)

Hoyt was the first President of the University of Wyoming from 1887-1890.  He was born near Worthington, Ohio, October 13, 1831.  He graduated at Ohio Wesleyan University in 1849, studied at Cincinnati Lawschool as well as Ohio Medical College and Eclectic Medical Institute, where he received his M.D. from the latter medical school in 1853. Dr. Hoyt also served as the Governor of the Territory of Wyoming from 1878-1882.
