Charles Willard Lewis

Charles Willard Lewis (1903-1904)

Lewis was the President of the University of Wyoming from 1903-1904.  He was born in New Trenton, Indiana in 1860 and was the President of Moore's Hill College, Indiana, before serving at the University of Wyoming.  After leaving public schools at the age of 16, he entered the Ohio State Normal school, where he did university work for several years and began teaching in public schools.  He then enrolled at DePauw University, studied at Moore's Hill College, and spent a summer taking post graduate work at Cambridge, Massachusetts.  His sudden death from pneumonia in 1904 came as a great shock to the University of Wyoming.
