William D. Carlson

William D. Carlson (1968-1979)

Carlson was the President of the University of Wyoming from 1968-1979.  He was born November 5, 1928, in Fort Collins, Colorado.  In 1952 he earned a doctor of veterinary medicine and furthered his studies by achieving his master of science in 1956 from Colorado State University, and his doctor of philosophy in radiology from the University of Colorado Medical School in 1958.  Carlson practiced as a veterinarian in Littleton, Colorado for a year before joining the Colorado State University faculty as assistant professor of veterinary medicine in 1953.  Holding an American Veterinary Medical Association fellowship for two years, he also pursued his studies in radiology and was named assistant professor of radiology at Colorado State University in 1957.
