The University of Wyoming Visual Arts department houses the Art Education program. This program does require teaching licensure after degree completion. Students will also need to complete the Praxis examination information at this weblink https://www.ets.org/praxis and some areas require the Praxis 2 exam in Art Content Knowledge (please check this exam information below for each area). Each U.S. State, District, and Territory may have its own exam requirements and may have more than one exam to complete. Passing the exam does not guarantee that any of the U.S. state, district or territory Boards will grant an teaching license, every applicant is reviewed on a case by case basis and by their exam results. Students that receive a teaching license can then apply to the state boards to work in that area. Even after applying to a state board a student may still not be accepted by the state licensing board to work in that state. Below is a list of U.S. States, Districts and Territories which can be used as a guide to determine if the UW Teaching degree will meet, does not meet, or we are unsure if they meet application processes. We are currently updating the website. Please contact Compliance & Review Specialist Erika Helgeson at ehelgeso@uwyo.edu or 307-766-3423 to obtain examination and state/district/territory licensure information while we work on the new website updates. Thank you.
