Andy McKamey

Andy McKamey is a dedicated and innovative accounting educator and financial professional with over 15 years of combined experience in higher education and industry. A Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and Certified Management Accountant (CMA), Andy currently serves as an Assistant Professional Lecturer at the University of Wyoming, where he has taught a broad range of courses including Cost Accounting, Intermediate Accounting, Advanced Financial Accounting, and Accounting Information Systems since 2020.

 

Renowned for his dynamic teaching approach and commitment to student success, Andy has received several accolades, including the Innovation Award (2022), Committed Educator Award (2023 and 2025), and recognition as an Honorary Track and Field Coach (2023). His leadership within the university extends beyond the classroom through active service on committees focused on hiring, strategic planning, curriculum modernization, and faculty mentoring.

 

Before joining the University of Wyoming, Andy held teaching positions at Laramie County Community College and Colorado State University, where he was awarded the Extra Mile Award for his dedication. His teaching portfolio spans foundational to advanced accounting and business courses, and he has consistently contributed to institutional development through committee service and mentorship.

 

Andy's industry experience includes serving as Controller at Harmony Foundation Inc., where he led financial reporting, strategic modeling, HR coordination, and audit oversight. His earlier positions included work as an Accounting Specialist with VF Outdoor Inc. and as a Payroll Tax Auditor with the Wyoming Department of Employment.

 

Academically, Andy holds a Master of Accountancy and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration—both from Colorado State University—where he graduated Magna Cum Laude and was recognized as a Top Ten Graduating Senior.

 

A strong advocate for community engagement, Andy contributes his expertise through board service, consulting, and volunteerism. He currently serves as Treasurer for Embrace Wyoming and volunteers with the Laramie Christian Academy and Harvest Church.
