Speed Mentoring, brought to UWYO nursing students.
by the University of Wyoming Alumni Association NURSING Chapter (UWAANC). is a fun event through which students hear about a variety of nursing careers from the mouths of our practicing alumni. Each year we ask the junior class to let us know what careers they would like to hear about. The UWAANC board does their best to find mentors to talk to the students about those careers.
In previous years.
.we would fill a long room with several "pods" where each mentor would meet with a small group of students, then shift student groups when a bell signaled "time to move to the next pod". (See picture to the left).
In the Pandemic of 2020.
.we decided to try a ZOOM Speed Mentoring, which has made it possible for any of our students (whether on campus or online) to hear what the mentors say about their specific nursing specialty. We taped the ZOOM sessions for YOU! Enjoy below.

The mentors are in order alphabetically by last name. Their nursing focus is listed as the sub-title. The nursing specialties covered in 2020 included Nursing Administration, Hematology/Oncology/Bone Marrow Transplant Nursing, Trauma Nursing, Emergency Nursing, Travel Nursing, Intensive Care & Rapid Response Nursing. School Nursing, Neonatal Intensive Care Nursing, Flight Nursing.
