More top-quality faculty and students are ultimately required to elevate UW’s science programs to top quartile status. New innovative programs to recruit, train, and retain top-tier students and faculty include the following:
Implements a program to train UW faculty, students, and future K–16 teachers on the most effective use of active learning techniques in science.
Matriculates top high school students from Wyoming and gives undergraduates early research involvement.
Awards seed grants to interdisciplinary teams of UW researchers to bolster submission of competitive grant proposals to federal agencies.
Engages students in research-based courses at a scale that is not possible through apprenticeships in faculty research laboratories.
Brings active learning and research to K-12 students and teachers as well as other stakeholders across the state.
Will draw the best doctoral students from the U.S. and worldwide, augmenting their training with strong research and teaching components.
