Research Innovation and Training Programs
More top-quality faculty and students are ultimately required to elevate UW’s science programs to top quartile status. New innovative programs to recruit, train, and retain top-tier students and faculty include the following:
Learning Actively Mentoring Program
Implements a program to train UW faculty, students, and future K–16 teachers on the
most effective use of active learning techniques in science.
Wyoming Research Scholars Program
Matriculates top high school students from Wyoming and gives undergraduates early
research involvement.
Faculty Innovation Grant Program
Awards seed grants to interdisciplinary teams of UW researchers to bolster submission
of competitive grant proposals to federal agencies.
Course-based Undergraduate Research Experiences
Engages students in research-based courses at a scale that is not possible through
apprenticeships in faculty research laboratories.
Science Initiative Roadshow
Brings active learning and research to K-12 students and teachers as well as other
stakeholders across the state.
