Chaperon Training

Overnight Chaperons are important to the delivery of 4-H programs. We want to provide you with the tools, resources, and information you need to be effective leaders. Through this training, we hope that you become better informed and prepared to serve as an overnight chaperon.

 

 

 

 

 

Shooting Sports

Online ResourcesThe Wyoming 4-H Program offers several shooting sports projects and events for its youth members. Adult volunteers are specially trained to teach youth everything they need to know regarding this project area.

  • Volunteer Leader Certification
    In the spring months, the Shooting Sports Training Committee will be coming to a county near you to conduct a training! If you are a new shooting sports leader or have reached five years since your last training, plan to attend one of these opportunities.
    1. Southeast area - Laramie County, Cheyenne
      • April 6-7
      • Registration due March 25, 2024: Laramie County
    2. Northwest area -Washakie County, Worland
      • March 9-10
      • Registration due February 26, 2024: Washakie County
    3. West area - Uinta County, Evanston
      • April 20-21
      • Registration due April 8, 2024: Uinta County
    4. Northeast area - Weston County, Newcastle
      • March 23-24
      • Registration due March 11, 2024: Weston County
    5. Central area - Natrona County, Casper
      • April 27-28, 2024
      • Registration due April 15, 2024: Natrona County
         
  • Volunteer Development Committee Meeting
    Each year volunteer leaders meet to discuss the educational components of the program as well as plan the events mentioned above. The 2024 meeting will be held in Casper on Saturday, February 17, 2024 at the Holiday Inn Casper East (721 Granite Peak Dr., 82609)
     
  • Competitive Events for Youth
    • State Shoot is held each year in Douglas the second week of July. This year it will be July 11-14, 2024.
    • Each year, senior-aged members can qualify for and attend an awards trip in Raton, New Mexico. Next year's trip will be September 4-8, 2024.
    • Youth interested may submit applications to participate at the National 4-H Shooting Sports Invitational. Next year's event will be held June 22-28, 2024.
