Get to Know Your Faculty Series

Lori Liebl, PhD, RN
Assistant professor

GET TO KNOW YOUR FACULTY Series: Lori Lieble

What courses do you teach?

I teach in the Masters of Science, Nurse Educator program and in the spring will also be teaching in the Basic BSN program. I am currently a co-instructor for the Curriculum in Nursing Education course, and in the spring I will be the instructor for Teaching Methodologies (MSN) and Culture Diversity in Family Health Care (BSN).

Which program students will have you as a professor?

Graduate students (MS) and undergraduate (Basic BSN) students.

What brought you to Wyoming, UWYO?

My husband had an opportunity to advance his career, so my family moved to Cheyenne from Sioux Falls, South Dakota. I recently completed my PhD in Nursing and aspire to contribute to the body of knowledge as a nurse scientist.

How long have you been with UW SoN?

This is my first year working with UW SoN.

What were you doing previous to this position at UW?

Before I was hired at UW, I was a nursing instructor at Laramie County Community College in Cheyenne.

What is your passion area?

My passion is the promotion and optimization of health for individuals and families.

Many faculty have “side interests” that help define who they are. Can you share?

I love spending time with my husband and three children. As a family, we enjoy hiking, skiing, swimming, and taking short trips to explore new locations throughout the country.

Do you see a relationship now or in the future with your side interest(s) linking up with nursing?

My side interests revolve around family and healthy behaviors. I believe my side interests and research goals align with my personal philosophy of nursing.

What do you like best about teaching?

Students! I truly enjoy interactions with students. I value the knowledge and perspective students bring with them to class. It is incredibly rewarding to watch someone learn new concepts; best of all, I always gain new knowledge and insight, too.
